MUTHA  CLEAN-UP GETS GLOBAL PUSH -Intl. WeLoveU foundation
(국제위러브유 운동 본부)

"Save The Earth Before Too Late"

Today's environment issues are getting worse and worse, that signify the earth is suffering. After all , which causes lots of natural disasters. Then, How should we cope with all the natural disasters threatening our lives? The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation-국제 위러브유 운동본부 ( Chairwoman : Zahng Gil-jah -회장 장길자)  is trying to raise public awareness of these environmental problems and solve them actively in many ways. The mature civic awareness is needed for the earth to keep  on  breathing.

 Express news service

On Sunday morning, an army in white T-shirts and yellow gloves assembled at the Mutha river to carry out the 2012 Clean World Movement.
From the Kalyani Nagar bridge, one could see the group hard at work.
Organised by the Korea-based  WeLoveU Foundation (IWF),  river cleaning activity was carried out simultaneously across the world. Right from Mutha in Pune to El Paso in USA, Bellecour Square in Lyon, France, Magat Salamat in Phillippines and Hara River in Darkhan — the initiative was a synchronous step towards a cleaner environment.

The event was also part of an agreement signed at the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit. In mid-March this year, Zahng Gil-jah (회장 장길자) chairperson of the  Intl. WeLoveU Foundation and Ali-Ben Bongo Ondimba, president, Gabon, agreed to cooperate with each other to cope with environmental problems.

In Pune, 400 people from all walks of life went about town collecting garbage. Colin Fernandes, a 21-year-old student who has been volunteering with the organisation for a year now, felt this was a great way to create "awareness". “It’s like a world movement.  WeLoveU Foundation,  expands worldwide starting from the Representative of Korea. The clean up activities will be organised concurrently to send a stronger message.”

From 10 am to noon, spreading in various time zones, garbage was collected and the issue discussed. Several black dustbin bags stuffed with cigarette butts, plastic bottles and paper waste sat around.

On the side, volunteers emptied the bags to form a big mass of garbage that Pune had effortlessly discarded into Mutha.
Raghav Shelke, a volunteer said, “One is surprised by the kind of garbage dumped here. There are toothpaste caps, pen refills, used cans,
a pair of jeans, a torn leather shoe and several other things here.”

The black bin bags stuffed with non-degradable waste signified how much the citizens take the river for granted.

Intl. WeLoveU Foundation Chairwoman Zahng gil jah ]  Built Temporary School houses for Santa Ana Girls’ High School Damaged by Earthquake in Peru.

Love starts from small attention toward others and through the small attention, i could better understand others in society. Actually, I realized that activities of IWF fill  not only other's life but also my life with full of happiness. At first, what I was impressed from activites of IWF was  that the members approach things  enthusiastically and carefully with mother's love and care. I've never seen that they leave something half-done, no matter how hard it is.

The Future of Peru Starts Over From School

Sharing Love Heart To Heart

On August 15, 2007, a great earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 struck Peru in South America; 500 were killed and 1,100 were injured.  The damaged area was Ica state. When the earthquake hit Ica city, 200 people were in a mass at a Catholic Church and were buried.  Pisco city and Chincha city were also severely damaged. Major high ways and 17,000 buildings collapsed, leaving over 80,000 refugees.

The IWF members from the Lima branch in Peru built 15 temporary schoolhouses for the Santa Ana Girls’ High School in Chincha city damaged by the earthquake. After the schoolhouses made of soil and straw collapsed, class was conducted in the tents given by international organizations from October 1. However the summer of the Southern Hemisphere made the classrooms hot like greenhouses and the students suffered from vomiting and dizziness. The IWF Lima branch in Peru was informed of this desperate situation from Anibal Luyo Del Risco he Deputy Mayor of Chincha City, and Hime Louis Uaman Akire the principal of the school. Immediately, the IWF Lima branch decided to build temporary schoolhouses. IWF Headquarters in Korea also heard about the news and raised funds to support them.

70 IWF members had visited the collapsed school first and thought over how to build the temporary schoolhouses. Then they themselves prepared all the materials, delivered them and constructed the schoolhouses for several days. They said, “Although it was extremely hot, we were able to work joyfully by imagining how happy the students would be when they studied in cool classrooms.”

The Representative Of Santa Ana Girls’ High School Delivers A Plaque Of Appreciation To The IWF.

Love Gives Birth Another Love !

On November 5 when the construction was completed, Anibal Luyo Del Risco the Deputy Mayor of Chincha City presented the plaque of appreciation to Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah and the IWF Lima branch in Peru. On November 7, Principal Hime Loius Uaman Akire (51) delivered the plaque of appreciation to Lima Branch Manager Kim Wang-hyeon.  Principal Akire said, “The students lost everything in an instant and were trapped in despair, but now they’ve regained hope. You have constructed not only classrooms but also dreams for the future.” He added, “I give thanks to the IWF members in Korea for presenting us with valuable dreams and hope.”

Lima Branch Manager Kim Wang-hyeon said, “I was very sorry to hear that the students were suffering from the natural disaster and absence of schoolhouses as well.” He wished them to overcome the trial and study hard in cool classrooms to become great citizens who care for their  neighbors.

INTL.WE LOVE U FOUNDATION [ CHAIRWOMAN ZAHNG GIL-JAH]- WATER PUMPS IN BREMAN KOKOSO, KHANA.

Intl.WeLoveU Foundation [Chairwoman Zahng gil jah] is the global welfare organization that is working to benefit the welfare of mankind. The organization also gives people a great chance to experience the virtue of giving love and sharing through the volunteer work.

" WATER OF LIFE " WELLING UP IN AFRICA

As modern civilization progresses speedily, the world became a global village. As we know, the technology of modern civilization have improved the quality of our lives. However, In the other places of the earth, there are still many disadvantaged areas. One of them is Africa.

Africa is always suffering from severe water shortage. Big cities are better, but small communities suffer from absolute shortage of  water—even if they have some, most of them are inadequate for drinking. Water shortage forces people to drink water even though they know it is contaminated, and they suffer from water-born diseases. People in Africa are caught in a vicious circle.

To help our global neighbors living in Africa, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation  set up water pumps in Breman Kokoso, a village of Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district in the central region of Ghana. In this typical agricultural village, over 300 inhabitants had depended on two pumps in the middle of the village. Because they had to drink water from the same stream where people washed their bodies or clothes, they suffered from various diseases including Guinea worm. Doctors advised them not to drink the water from the stream, but even if they wanted to get underground water, they had to wait in long lines because they didn’t have good  water supply system, and the inhabitants living in the outskirts of the village gave up drawing the underground water and drank from the stream as usual.

Last autumn, the IWF recognized the desperate situation of Breman Kokoso inhabitants and started to investigate the actual conditions to help them. The IWF  funded the whole project—extracting underground water and setting up additional pumps—and the inhabitants joined  the project in one mind. At the beginning of December, they started to search for water vein, and drilled holes for two months, and set up two new pumps and held a donation ceremony on February 11, 2009.

The donation ceremony was very exciting like a village festival and it was broadcast through local TV broadcasting stations and newspapers such as GTV, TV3, TV Africa and Daily Graphic. As water gushed out from the new pumps, all the villagers including children  shouted, “We Love U,” for joy and gave thanks to the foundation.

The villagers, who came to drink clean water, were filled with emotion. Oduro Finn, a villager, sampled the underground water and said, “The quality of water is very good. I truly give thanks to the  WeLoveU Foundation, for helping us escape from the threat of disease like  Guinea worm disease by providing us with clean water. You did great job for our village. Children used to be late for schools because  they had to draw water, but now they can go to school early to study.” He expressed his gratitude and pleasure.

Nana Tutu Abban Ⅲ, the Chief of Breman Kokoso, thanked the IWF  for the facility, saying, “Water is life,” and announced that a committee had been set up to take care of the water pumps to make sure that the villagers continued to drink clean water. Emmanuel Adjei Domson, the  District Chief Executive for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, emphasized, “The singular effort of the WeLoveU Foundation, which was conscious of the  importance of water in disease prevention, would contribute to elimination of water-born disease in this community.”

Ha Jae-wan,Ghana Branch Manager of the IWF ,complemented the villagers for their hospitality and communal spirit, which he said ensured  the early completion of the project. He also wished the inhabitants to drink clean water and live healthy. The foundation also presented notebooks and biscuits to the students of the two elementary schools in the village at the same ceremony.

The “Movement to Provide the Water of Life” started from the 10th New Life Family Walkathon in May 2008, and has continued in other African countries like DR Congo and Kenya, along with Ghana. The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, will keep trying to deliver love and hope to people who suffer from water shortage.

Int. Weloveu foundation -the 12th New Life Family Walkathon

“It's amazing how we can save many people with a water pump. One day, I saw on TV some people drink polluted water. I'm so happy that I can help them by participating in this Family Walkathon."

As the New Life Family Walkathon is held every year, children have grown mature in thinking. A 12-year-old boy said that he began to think more carefully about the poor neighbors around the world and the environmental problems as he attended this event with his family for many years.Like him, many children are learning the true meaning of "sharing" little by little while taking their steps forward one by one with their families at the walkathon.

The WeLoveU Foundation members are the messengers of love who are quietly delivering happiness, hope and life to the whole world. Today, too, they are diligently carrying their steps to give hope to the neighbors who are tired of life, and to give love to the dried world. Their spiritual teacher, Chairwoman Mrs. Zahng Gil-jah who practices love before them with an appearance as firm as a great mountain, says, “Our life is shorter than even ten decades. When this short span of life passes, we have to end our life as a stranger on the earth. While living, we should leave something eternal. The time we spent for our own good will disappear in vain, but our sharing love with neighbors and helping along with their tiring lives, will remain as the most meaningful and precious memory in our life.”

The 13th New Life Family Walkathon

<The 13th New Life Family Walkathon> -2011.5.22

The flower of hope is in bloom in the hearts of our neighbors in Asia and Africa.

On May 22, yellow forsythias were in full bloom in the Manseok Park, Suwon. They were the members of the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation who gathered to give hope to the countries having a water shortage, victims suffering from natural disasters, and neighbors going through hard times of life.

The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation held the “13th New Life Family Walkathon” under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, city governments of Seoul and Suwon, and Sejong General Hospital in Bucheon. The New Life Family Walkathon that started to help children with heart disease and intractable diseases, and of parentless or extremely poor families, and foreign workers who injured has met its 13th anniversary. This year, the foundation donated 12 million won [10,000 USD] for 24 low-income households in Suwon including senior citizens living alone and parentless families, and 3.4 million yen [42,000 USD] for the relief effort for the Japanese earthquake victims. It also donated facilities to develop ground water and eight water pumps to four countries suffering from water shortage—Cambodia, Ghana, Kenya and Nepal (two water pumps each).

The walkathon was attended by 6,500 people including the citizens of Suwon as well as the WeLoveU members. People of all social standings also participated in this meaningful event: Margaret Clarke-Kwesie the Ambassador of Ghana to the Republic of Korea, embassy officials in Korea whose country received the water pumps from the WeLoveU Foundation, Ye Chang-geun the Deputy Mayor of Suwon, Lee Chan-yeol a member of the National Assembly, local government officials, actor Lee Sun-jae the Sponsor Chairman of the WeLoveU Foundation, and Kim Seong-hwan the goodwill ambassador of the WeLoveU Foundation.

Before the walkathon, there was a celebration on the bandstand in the park. Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah hoped that the walkathon gave an opportunity to look around our families and neighbors through “walking” that makes people get along with one another without competition and have a sincere talk so that they can be healthy both physically and spiritually. In her welcoming message, she also said that their footsteps would give great energy to our global neighbors who lost peace of mind, being driven to despair due to natural disasters.

This day, the foundation delivered water pumps and donations. Ambassador of Ghana to the Republic of Korea, Margaret Clarke-Kwesie, expressed her thanks on behalf of all beneficiary countries including Ghana, saying, “Water pumps enabled many children in Ghana and citizens drink clean water and live healthy. Your donating the water pumps is no different from giving us life.” Vice Mayor of Suwon, Ye Chang-geun, also said, “I’ve never heard about this kind of global scale event in these days. I’m thankful for your help for our unprivileged neighbors in Suwon, and I think this will be an opportunity to make the citizens realize the value of volunteering service and sharing.” He also hoped that the foundation’s love for humankind would be spreading throughout the world.

The celebration was followed. The New Life Children’s Choir showed Taekwondo and dance, and the foreign families who stay in Korea sang a song of hope, singing, “You raise me up.” PR Ambassador Lee Seung-hun sang the song, “We love you,” of his own composition together with the members, and vocalists Kim Seong-hwan, Baek Mi-hyeon and Kim Jae-hun delivered the message of hope through their enthusiastic performances.

After the celebration, the members took a step toward hope along the 1.3-km trail around the lake. As there were interesting games on the trail such as “Blow up bubbles,” and “Give a wink at mom and dad,” the members could walk happily, laughing aloud with their families. A member who walked with her three-year-old daughter said, “I think one of the roles of parents is to help their children know how to share something with others. Then, our children can also teach what love is to their later generation when they grow up and lead the world. In that point of view, I think this event is much more meaningful because we make the link to deliver the ‘love sharing’ to the future generation.”

Daejayon [Intl. Association of University Students for Environmental Movement] also prepared events. They informed the participants of the importance of water by washing hands with 30 grams of water and water-saving quizzes. Along with the photo exhibition showing the damage of Japanese earthquake, they shared the pain of our global neighbors by writing messages of encouragement to the victims. Various events such as “face painting” and “making button with family” were also prepared.

Yellow waves created by the members were rolling along the lake. As the head of a procession finished the walkathon course and toched the tail, a yellow shape of heart was created—it was the gift of hope from the WeLoveU Foundation under the soft beans of sunlight in May.

Donation for the Earthquake Victims in Japan - Chairwoman ZAHNG Gil-Jah

Little consolation to a neighboring country suffering four distress— earthquake, tsunami, nuclear accident, and regional economic depression

On March 11, the great earthquake that hit the northeastern Japan brought a huge tsunami and deadly nuclear accident soon after. Especially, as Unit 1 to 4 of the nuclear power plant 1 blew up, the damage of radiation leak became a reality. As it is continuously reported that agricultural products including rice, which were produced in this region, were contaminated by radioactive substance, it deals a severe blow to the local economy, being neglected in the homeland as well as overseas.

The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation took the lead in helping the citizens of Fukushima, Japan, who were suffering four distress—earthquake, tsunami, nuclear accident, and regional economic depression. On November 18, the WeLoveU Foundation Manager Lee Seung-eon visited the Fukushima prefecture government, and delivered 3,400,000 yen [$443,000] in relief funds. This donation is expected to be used to supply daily necessities to the residents of the damaged region. Igarashi Koji, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Fukushima Prefecture, who received the donation, expressed his gratitude to the foundation, saying, “We sincerely give thanks for helping us in difficult situations.”

On the last May 22, the WeLoveU members called people’s attention to the neighbors in need in Korea and overseas, and raised funds through the New Life Family Walkathon. The donations, which the members raised at that time, were used for the living expenses of the low-income families in Suwon city, Gyeonggi province, Korea and for the installation of water pumps for the countries suffering from water shortage such as Ghana, Cambodia, KenyaNepal, etc.
